Irpin: one dead and 19 injured

Overnight on 19 October Russia launched a massive combined strike on Kyiv region with ballistic and cruise missiles and attack drones, the regional military administration said. Irpin was hit hardest. According to regional governor Tymur Tkachenko, a woman was killed in the city and 19 people were injured, nine of them children.

Eighty-six sites were damaged: about 70 private houses, five apartment blocks, seven cars, and production and storage facilities. Local resident Mariia told Suspilne that the first explosions came at about 3am and the strongest blast wave at 6:40–6:50: “It knocked me out of my room into the hallway.” Firefighters had to interrupt their work because of repeated air-raid alerts. Because of the damage, schools in the community switched to remote learning.

An aid centre was set up next to the damaged residential area to explain how to register damage and get help. Residents are being given OSB boards to cover broken windows, municipal workers are clearing glass, and people are filing police reports to document the destruction.

A factory destroyed for the second time

Russian missiles hit the production facilities of the Planeta Plastyk plant, which makes agricultural films, polymer bags for grain storage and polyethylene pipes. “The company has again suffered significant destruction,” the firm said, adding that all employees are alive. As Hromadske Radio recalls, the company’s previous plant was destroyed in 2022; the new one in Irpin opened in September 2025.

Obukhiv district: an evening strike on a company

That evening Russian drones attacked a company in Obukhiv district of Kyiv region, starting a fire. According to Tkachenko, a man was killed and six people were injured; all were hospitalised.

Khmelnytskyi: two elderly women killed

In Khmelnytskyi a strike set two residential houses on fire. Rescuers found the bodies of two women, born in 1926 and 1954, under the rubble of one of them, regional governor Serhii Tiurin said. Two more people were hospitalised and one was treated at the scene. The same day a company in the city was damaged, and a strike on an energy facility left many consumers in the region without power.

Dnipropetrovsk and other regions

In Dnipropetrovsk region Russian forces attacked communities more than 20 times during the day with drones and artillery. In Kryvyi Rih two men were killed in a strike on an industrial site. In total, 10 people were injured in the region during the day, including a 15-year-old boy. In the city a company, a bank, shops, a school and apartment blocks were damaged. Late in the evening drones twice attacked an energy facility in Lviv region.

The scale of the attacks

Ukraine’s General Staff said that on 18 October alone Russia used 463 attack drones of various types, of which air defence neutralised 418 — an effectiveness of 90.28%. Overnight on 19 October, according to preliminary data as of 9am, air defence downed four missiles and 247 drones, while hits were recorded at 25 locations in 11 regions. “Even such a high rate does not guarantee complete safety. Every drone that could not be neutralised remains a threat to people,” the General Staff said.

What to do

  • do not ignore alerts even after several hours of quiet: attacks can come in waves;
  • keep a supply of water, a torch and a power bank at home in case of outages;
  • document damage to your home and contact your community’s aid centres and the police.
